I was rear-ended last week and the other guy's insurance is already calling me offering a settlement. It seems okay, but a friend told me I should never sign anything without talking to an attorney first. Is it really necessary if I only have some neck pain and my car needs a new bumper? I don't want to lose a chunk of the settlement money to legal fees if I don't have to, but I also don't want to get ripped off by the insurance company. Has anyone handled this on their own successfully?
