Hey everyone, I got into my first major accident last Tuesday. The other driver ran a red light and T-boned me. My car is totaled, and I've been dealing with some pretty bad neck pain and headaches (doctor says it's whiplash). The other driver's insurance called me yesterday offering to pay my medical bills so far plus a $4,500 payout if I sign a release right now. Honestly, I just want this stress to be over with, but my brother is telling me I'd be crazy to accept their first offer without talking to a personal injury attorney. Is it really worth hiring a lawyer? I'm worried their 30-40% cut will just eat up whatever extra money they might get me. Has anyone gone through this?
