Hey everyone, looking for some real-world advice. About three weeks ago, I got rear-ended at a red light. It wasn't a massive crash, but my bumper is ruined and I've been dealing with some pretty annoying neck and shoulder stiffness (doctor diagnosed it as mild whiplash). The other driver was 100% at fault and cited at the scene. I've been trying to work with their insurance directly to get my medical bills and car repairs covered, but they are dragging their feet so much. Today they offered me a quick $1,200 payout to 'settle everything,' which barely covers my ER visit, let alone physical therapy. Everyone keeps telling me to 'just hire a lawyer,' but I'm terrified that a personal injury attorney will just take a massive cut of my settlement and leave me with even less. Has anyone gone through this? Is it actually worth getting an attorney for a relatively minor accident, or should I keep fighting the insurance company myself?
