So I was rear-ended a few days ago. It wasn't a huge wreck, but my car is definitely messed up and my neck has been feeling pretty stiff since it happened. The other driver's insurance company is already calling me asking for a recorded statement and they're offering a quick settlement check. It sounds tempting just to get it over with, but my friends are telling me I should talk to an attorney first. I'm just worried that if I hire a lawyer, they'll take a massive cut of the money and I'll end up with less than what the insurance is offering now. Has anyone gone through this? Did a lawyer actually get you a better deal even after their fees were taken out?
